Important Notes

  • Please notify us of any dietary restrictions or preferences when making your reservation

  • A basic vegetarian meal option is available upon request.

  • The sunset depends on the weather conditions and clear skies.

  • The colors of the lagoons, including Laguna Colorada and Laguna Verde, depend on weather conditions. Their vibrant hues are most visible under clear skies and good sunlight. Additionally, in rare cases of heavy snowfall, access to Laguna Colorada may be restricted for safety reasons. While this is uncommon, it’s important to be aware that certain areas of the tour are subject to weather-related changes.

  • For shared tours, please note that on the first night in the middle of the desert the only available accommodation is very very simple and rustic. There is only two hours of electricity.

  • Rainy Season (January to April)

    • During the rainy season, the Uyuni Salt Flats may be covered with water, making it impossible to cross as in the dry season. As a result, the itinerary is adjusted, with the following possible changes:

    • Incahuasi Island may be inaccessible due to flooding. In this case, the tour will visit alternative sites such as the Monuments.

    • Accommodation in Uyuni may change instead of a Salt Hostal.

    • Please keep in mind that weather conditions may alter the route for safety reasons.

    • The mirror effect is more likely during the rainy season, but it depends entirely on natural rainfall and weather conditions.
This phenomenon is natural and cannot be guaranteed.

What type of accommodation is included during the 2 nights?

The accommodation listed below is provided as an example only. In case there is no availability, it will be replaced with a similar hostel of the same category and characteristics.

Please note that during the rainy season (January to April), if the Uyuni Salt Flats are flooded, the overnight stay might take place in the town of Uyuni, San Cristobal or other in a regular guesthouse instead of a salt hostel.

During winter, please be aware that most hostels in this region do not have heating. For this reason, we include a sleeping bag at no additional cost to ensure your comfort during the night.

Please note that the tour price already includes:

First night: accommodation in a basic shelter (very simple and rustic), as it is the only option available in this remote area.
Second night:  a private room with a private bathroom in a salt hostel.

Additionally, hot showers are available approximately 75% of the time, and we do not charge any extra fee for their use.

⚠️ Border Crossing Information – Hito Cajon

Hito Cajones is normally open year-round, and closures are uncommon. However, during extreme weather in the rainy or winter season, authorities may temporarily close the border (around 10–20 days per year, not usually consecutive).

If closed on the crossing day, the route may be adjusted via Ollagüe to Uyuni and the itinerary could change.

Closures are decided by local authorities and cannot be predicted. Passenger safety is the priority.
Additional costs may apply if rerouting, extra transfers, or itinerary changes are required.
