  • The sunset depends on the weather conditions and clear skies.

  • The colors of the lagoons, including Laguna Colorada and Laguna Verde, depend on weather conditions. Their vibrant hues are most visible under clear skies and good sunlight. Additionally, in rare cases of heavy snowfall, access to Laguna Colorada may be restricted for safety reasons. While this is uncommon, it’s important to be aware that certain areas of the tour are subject to weather-related changes.

  • Pick-up at the Bus Terminal:
    We pick up all travelers arriving between 5:00 AM and 7:30 AM at the Uyuni bus terminal. You will be taken to a café where you can have breakfast and rest before the tour begins. The café has bathrooms and showers available for freshening up.

  • Pick-up at Uyuni Airport:
    If you arrive by plane, we will pick you up at the airport and take you to the café for a quick break or directly to our office to start the tour at 10:30 AM.

  • Pick-up from Hotels or Hostels in Uyuni:
    If you are staying in a hotel or hostel in Uyuni, pick-up will be between 10:15 AM and 10:30 AM, after which you will be taken to our office to begin the tour.

  • Rainy Season (January to April)

    • During the rainy season, the Uyuni Salt Flats may be covered with water, making it impossible to cross as in the dry season. As a result, the itinerary is adjusted, with the following possible changes:

    • Incahuasi Island may be inaccessible due to flooding. In this case, the tour will visit alternative sites such as the Monuments.

    • Accommodation in Uyuni may change instead of a Salt Hostal.

    • Please keep in mind that weather conditions may alter the route for safety reasons.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in La Paz – Half-Day City Tour

Upon arrival in La Paz, travelers will be transferred to a comfortable 3-star hotel. After some time to rest and acclimatize, the afternoon begins with a half-day city tour starting at the Moon Valley, a surreal landscape with dramatic rock formations. Next, enjoy a scenic ride on La Paz’s famous cable car system, gliding over the city on the green, yellow, silver, red, and orange lines. Continue to the charming Jaén Street to visit the Costumbrista Museum and the Museum of Precious Metals. The tour ends at Plaza Murillo and the Witches' Market, where guests can choose to explore further or return to the hotel.

Day 2: La Paz – Uyuni – Begin Salt Flats Tour

Early morning transfer to El Alto Airport for your flight to Uyuni. Upon arrival, a driver takes you to town where you join a 3-day shared tour to the Uyuni Salt Flats, guided in English. Today’s highlights include the Train Cemetery, endless salt flats, Incahuasi Island (entry included), and a breathtaking sunset. Overnight in a salt lodge with private room and bathroom.

Day 3: Desert & Lagoons Adventure

Travel through the surreal landscapes of the Siloli Desert and stop at the famous Stone Tree. Continue to visit high-altitude lagoons like Laguna Colorada, home to thousands of flamingos (entry to Eduardo Avaroa Reserve included). Spot native wildlife such as vicuñas and llamas. Overnight in Huallajara in a private room with private bathroom.

Day 4: To San Pedro de Atacama (Chile)

Before sunrise, visit the steaming Sol de Mañana geysers, then soak in the Polques hot springs (entry optional). End your journey at the stunning Laguna Verde, beneath the towering Licancabur Volcano. After completing border formalities, take a shared transfer to San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, where the tour ends.

Cancellation Policy, Terms and Conditions

  • With Trip Protection: Cancel up to 48 hour prior to departure for a full refund (Any additional charges, such as bank fees or transaction costs, will be deducted from the refund amount).

  • Tour operates rain or shine, itinerary may be adjusted in severe weather

  • Itinerary Changes: The itinerary may be modified without prior notice due to factors beyond our control. No refunds will be issued for these changes. During the rainy season, if access to Incahuasi Island is restricted, the visit will be replaced with stops at monuments in the salt flats.

  • Travel Insurance: Passengers are strongly encouraged to have international travel insurance.

  • Passenger Responsibility: Travelers must bring appropriate clothing, have valid documents, and adhere to the scheduled times.

  • Transportation Conditions: Vehicles may vary in model and condition but meet basic operational requirements. Specific seats are not guaranteed.

  • Changes Due to Group Size: If more than 50% of the group cancels or reschedules, On Experiences may adjust the tour date and/or departure time, notifying passengers in advance.

  • Flight Delays: We are not responsible for flight delays, but we will do our best to assist passengers within our operational capacity.

  • Rainy Season: For safety reasons, if roads are flooded, it may not be possible to stay in salt lodges. In such cases, on the 3-day tour, passengers may return to Uyuni for the first night's accommodation.

  • No Show and Late Cancellations: Any cancellation made on the same day or within 24 hours before departure will be considered a No Show, and no refund will be issued.

  • Check-in Time: Passengers must be at our office by 10:30 AM for check-in before departure.

  • Refund requests must be submitted in writing to now@onex.travel and will be processed within 10 business days.

  • Rescheduling:

    • Free of charge if requested at least 3 days before the tour.

    • Requests made 2 days before the tour will incur a Bs 50 fee.

    • Same-day rescheduling is subject to No Show policies and availability.

What clothing should I bring for a trip to Uyuni?

You should bring layers of clothing to handle the wide range of temperatures. During the day, it can be warm, so light clothing is advisable. At night, temperatures can drop significantly, so you'll need warm clothes such as a fleece, thermal underwear, a down jacket, gloves, and a hat. Waterproof clothing is also recommended during the rainy season.

Do I need to bring cash?

Yes, it's advisable to bring cash in Bolivian Bolivianos (BOB) since credit card facilities may not always be available, especially in remote areas. ATMs are available in Uyuni, but it's good to have enough cash for your entire trip. How much? 500 BOB is enough.
