Overview

Copacabana, a small town on Lake Titicaca. Famous for the religious traditions, this town is the door for visiting amazing tour attractions such as Isla del Sol and Isla de la Luna. 

This 2 days tour will allow you to visit the most significant tour attraction in Copacabana with a stay in Isla del Sol. 

Departure time and location

Place: Hotel pick up service downtown only, or Plaza del Estudiante for people staying out of the central zone of La Paz.

Time: 07:30 A.M. – 08:00 A.M.

Return time and location

Place: San Francisco church or Illampu Avenue (depending on traffic conditions)

Time: 05:30 P.M.

  • Copacabana ChurchA 16th-century Spanish colonial shrine that houses the image of the Virgen de Copacabana.
  • Isla del SolAn island in the middle of the Lake Titicaca, it is mostly known for being the place where the Inca culture was born.
  • Chincana LabyrinthAn inca building located in the northern side of Isla del Sol. Locals believe it was a ceremonial place for young man and maidens to worship the god of the sun.
Itinerary

Day 1La Paz - Southern Isla del Sol

07:30 – 07:40 a. m. We take a shared tourist bus to Copacabana. Once we arrive to Copacabana (at 12:00 a.m. approx.), we visit Copacabana Church (depending on bus arrival). Then we have lunch (delicious trout from the lake available).

01:30 p. m. We go by boat to the Sun Island where we will have a walk to see the Inca stairs and a fountain. (Optional walk to the best view point to see the sunset) Nice dinner and accommodation included.

Day 2Temple of Sun - La Paz

Once we have breakfast, we start the walk to the Inca ruins. Then we get into the Inca temple where you will have a good explanation about the place.
01:30 p. m. The boat will pick us up from the ruins and take us to Copacabana, where we will have lunch. Then, we will take the bus back to La Paz.
05:30 p. m. Arrival at La Paz at the San Francisco square.
